New York: Two Months Later

In June, I went to New York City for the 25th anniversary of the Emma Bowen Fohndation, a nonprofit that seeks to bring social change by putting minorities in the media. I'm so proud to be a part of it, and this year's conference reminded me that being successful in this industry means doing the work that Emma Bowen and the community leaders set out to do.

Plus the food and desserts I happily obliged in presented a nice perk!

I have been one acquainted with the night

Acquainted with the Night
by: Robert Frost

I have been one acquainted with the night.

I have walked out in rain -- and back in rain.

I have outwalked the furthest city light.

I have looked down the saddest city lane.

I have passed by the watchman on his beat

And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain.

I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet

When far away an interrupted cry
Came over houses from another street,

But not to call me back or say good-bye;

And further still at an unearthly height,

One luminary clock against the sky
Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right.

I have been one acquainted with the night.

As I have recently turned 17 (last Wednesday, May 12), I've been thinking more (even more than usual) about my future in the city. Or a city. I find solace sitting by wide windows overlooking a vast midnight view, and love the idea of people bathed in the moon's glow. This piece of literature, somewhat melancholy, strikes me nostalgic for a life I haven't lived yet.

When Accesories Take Over the City

Shoes from Givenchy S/S09.

I'm no Miss Dior Couture, but I've been working on my Photoshop collage skills. This took a few minutes, and I'm kind of proud of it. What if accessories take over the city?

New York Fashion Week Starts Tomorrow!

AWO9 kicks off in New York tomorrow and I'm extremely excited! Even though I'm not going, I like to read about it on style.com, New York magazine's fashion section and on live-blogs. I'm extremely anxious to see new trends for fall.
Sadly, this is the last NYFW at Bryant Park, since next season it moves to the Lincoln Center. On top of that, many designers are moving their shows to their showrooms and just changing to presentations period.
But anyway,
According to COACD, this is the schedule

So many good shows going on at the same time! How do editors pick and decide which to attend which to not?
All I know, is I hope soon I can attend. Think of how awesome it'd be to have backstage photos

And to go to all the cool parties, meet the best editors (imagine just "bumping" into Meredith Melling Burke or Anna Wintour)

Or maybe even finding yourself sharing a cab with a model late for a show
(imagine Chanel Iman or Coco Rocha asking you to split a cab?!)
Yeah, I know..my imagination is wild, lol

How cool would it be to write a behind-the-scenes article, or report live from the fashion capitals?

I'm anticipating Jason Wu (you know because of Michelle O., speaking of which, check her out here on VOGUE)
Marc Jacobs (of course), Zac Posen (love), Betsey Johnson...

But nonetheless, I'm very excited for the shows! You?
